Devlog: 0.41.0-prerelease-1


Alright, this week mostly the stuff I already talked about in what I had planned for the week in the monthly project plan report.

The mental changes Temperance Orb corruption / Selflessness Orb corruption / Indecency Hate corruption can now occur automatically (Auto-Corrupt) if your corruption exceeds your mental world progression in a significant manner. Funnily enough, for the Temperance Orb corruption, it might also give an alternate condition to unlock the Orb corruption while staying at lower than 20 Lewdness by early unlocking a sex partner.

The only requirement for Auto-Corrupts is that you must have unlocked the inner world chamber (not the room though.) There is also an interesting possibility to trigger Auto-Corrupts without having progressed that far. E.g. triggering Temperance Orb corruption in Chapter 1 and thus masturbation scenes early. The problem here is that it would increase the amount of assets, in this case needing braided hair + glasses for the masturbation scenes. So nothing for 1.0 but perhaps something to investigate in 2.0.

Then, the biggest batch of changes probably goes to the skill department this week. There is a new teacher for higher rank Assassination skills in the Nephlune Underground Pub who can teach you the skills all the way up to Rank III. For Assassinate III I decided to make it add the DEFENSES BROKEN state, allowing you to deal massive damage to enemies who survived the skill.

And that isn't the only Rank III skill that got added to the game. Francis can now teach you Rampage III after you beat im in a duel and pass 20 days (if you have already defeated him in a duel, you need to talk to him to initiate the countdown). Rampage III comes with a minor upgraded perk that if you have very high ATK, you can now smash the rocks that require a Bomb+ with it.

And if you either enslaved Lorraine to Roland, he will now add in the reward of forcing her to teach Aura Pierce III. Or if you prove her innocence, she will do so voluntarily. Only when she gets sent to prison does she not teach you Pierce III. Pierce III also introduces a new state CRIPPLED which for 2 turns reduces the target's melee states (ATK/DEF/AGI) by 25%, making not just a damage dealer skill but also a combo piece to setup more damage in the future.

As I mentioned, skills are the big thing this week. So we stick around with the topic. In the Magic Academy you can find 2(3) new clubs. One is just a placeholder the "Claire Fanclub" that gets replaced by the "Magic Mastery Club" after you have cleared the Reverse Summoning Ritual. Provided you have learned all available Rank I and Rank II spells of an element, you can learn the Rank III damage spell of the element in this club... For a certain fee because the leader doesn't, um, well you'll see. :'D

Anyways, if you have learned all skills from the Academy for an element you can learn the Rank III damage spell here but you can only pick 1 element rank III spell. I hope that at the player has enough experience to make a reasonable decision and evalute the skills based on the given information.

Another new club in the Magic Academy is the "Teaching Club". Here you can sell knowledge on spells you acquired outside of the Magic Academy and that aren't taught there. Currently that is Lightning Sword I/II and Rock Armor I/II.

Then, our companions also learn new skills which they can teach to Aura! John learns Protect II at 6, Paul Pierce II at 7, and Desmond Coating Proficiency II at 8. If they are 1 level higher than the skill, they can teach it to Aura. This is of course where the latest balance change to increase the passive EXP gain for companions to +3 EXP / Day at workshop level 10 comes into play.

Another companion with some more skills is Slime, or at least some of his Morphs. Certain skills back then didn't have Rank II versions which is why some Morphs were lacking level 13 skills. These are now added.

Finally there is a new item on Workshop Level 9 - Anti-Dark Coating. It requires quite a lot of crafting setup but it gives you a new way of gaining DARK resistance outside of Radiance.
